Interventions

Interventions are critical to the delivery of sentence plans and make a significant contribution to risk management, and to reductions in the risk of harm. Interventions address all the purposes of sentencing and provide both punishment and rehabilitation.

Interventions are already delivered by a range of providers, probation trusts and their public sector partners, third sector providers both large and small and providers from the private sector. Within probation trusts, interventions currently make up approximately one third of the available resources.

The Probation Review has confirmed Government intentions to further develop the market in Probation Interventions.
