Approved Premises

Probation manages a network of approximately 100 Approved Premises around the country. These have been used increasingly to manage high-risk offenders in the community, often as a transition between prison and independent living. Offenders placed in Approved Premises are closely overseen and monitored in line with their licence conditions or court orders, and are subject to stringent risk management plans. Approved Premises are an important protective tool in the way society manages risk and protects the public although it is important to recognise that they are not prisons so do not provide round the clock surveillance.
