PCA Annual Report

Summary

This report highlights some of the key achievements of the Probation Chiefs Association (PCA) in 2010/11.  We work to ensure that the chief executives and senior managers of Probation Trusts have a strong and influential voice in the criminal justice system. Over the past three years, we have built up our profile and reputation as the Association representing the professional leadership of Probation.  Our aim has been to consolidate and strengthen this position, developing a clear programme of work to underpin and inform the Association’s contributions to Government thinking on criminal justice reform and in particular the objectives of protecting the public and reducing reoffending.

We have established constructive relationships with the Prisons and Probation Minister, key officials in NOMS and the wider Ministry of Justice, and other government departments, with a regular programme of meetings.

In presenting the professional Probation view, the PCA Executive has involved the membership, in identifying, and prioritising critical probation issues which impact on and responding to consultations. We recognise and are responsive to the challenge of delivering improved outcomes at a time of severe pressure on public spending.
